Dream Warrior, 2013

Starting in 2013 with a fateful trip to Toronto to do the artsy games incubator for animators at the TAIS institution, Paloma Dawkins learned the basics of Unity, sprite sheets and TVPaint animation. 6 weeks later her debut game “Dream Warrior” was born, a collaboration between Dawkins, Catherine Debard and Allan Lavell inspired by the music of spheres and color theory.

Paloma returned to Montreal and collaborated with KO_OP mode to make “Gardenarium” with Kyler Kelly and Catherine Debard. “Gardenarium” was a further realization of what Dawkins was trying to achieve with her 2D in 3D technique, creating animation with form in mind to create the illusion space. Soon after Dawkins was commissioned by Humble Bundle to make “ALEA” with shader genius Cale Bradbury (aka. Netgrind) and musical virtuoso Caila Thompson Hannat (aka. Cecile Believe). Soon after Dawkins created “Palmystery” with musical inspiration from the intense and vibrant electronic music scene in Montreal.

Dawkins started working on the production of “Museum of Symmetry” with Ashley Obscura (aka. Ambient Technology), Caila Thompson Hannat, and the National Film Board of Canada in 2014, which would evolve into a VR cosmic journey through the clouds and oceanic depths and go on to win several international awards.

in 2017, Dawkins began a collaboration with Kas Gobaldi and with the support from the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Canadian Council for the Arts created “Oceanarium”. Soon after, Paloma was approached Manchester International Festival and created the dark narrative game “Songs of the Lost” with Prashast Tephan, Ashley Obscura, and prolific electronic musician Jlin.

Since 2020 Dawkins and Ashley Obscura have been working on developing the Apocablyss Universe with help from DMG’s Investment Readiness program Cohort 1, and Weird Ghosts’ Baby Ghosts program, and in March 2023 we launched our tarot deck and studio at Anteism Art Books in Montreal, kCanada.
